The Opportunity
We are recruiting for a Design Engineer to join a highly technical engineering business in Glasgow, supporting the development of advanced products and manufacturing processes.
This is a varied role combining computer aided design, technical problem-solving and automation. You will work closely with engineering and development teams to improve design capabilities, develop automated tools and support a range of ongoing projects.
The role would suit someone with a structured approach to CAD design who enjoys finding better ways of working and is comfortable working across both design and technical projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the key point of contact for CAD design across the business.
- Develop and maintain automated tools to improve design and layout processes.
- Work closely with engineering and development teams to improve CAD capabilities
- Support the design and procurement of specialist manufacturing components and documentation.
- Provide CAD support to operational and facilities projects.
- Maintain CAD libraries, technical documentation and templates.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Requirements
- Qualified in CAD, Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working with CAD software – AutoCAD – within an advanced engineering of manufacturing environment.
- Coding or scripting experience using Python, C++, JavaScript or similar is highly desirable.
- Experience scripting to automate design processes would be advantageous.
- An understanding of software development best practices
- Experience with engineering simulation or FEM software would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools would be desirable.

Job Details
- Full time, permanent role
- Hours of work: Monday – Friday, 9am - 5pm
- Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience
