Mechanical Maintenance Technician

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician you will help maintain and optimise the essential mechanical systems. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our client’s production site.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will report to the Production Site Foreman and collaborate closely with the Technical Development, Engineering, and R&D departments to support and enhance our processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, breakdown repair, and installation of process plant equipment (vessels, pumps, centrifuges, agitators, etc.).
- Conduct routine maintenance of utilities and process safety equipment (compressors, safety valves, process instruments, pressure gauges, etc.).
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical issues to minimise downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and liaise with external service contractors for critical site equipment.
- Assist with the assembly and installation of new equipment, ensuring safety standards and technical specifications are met.
- Identify and address gaps in regular site upkeep and maintenance activities.
- Help develop maintenance plans to ensure best practices are implemented on-site.
- Work closely with production operators, engineers, scientists, and other team members on ongoing projects.
Skills and Qualities
- Follow technical guidelines and diagrams for equipment assembly and repair.
- Skilled in using hand and power tools for mechanical plant machinery.
- Analytical skills for diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
- Meticulous approach to maintenance tasks and adherence to safety protocols.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in maintaining and installing process plant equipment in an industrial setting.
- The ideal candidate would be multi-skilled in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
- Recognised apprenticeship or HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and interact effectively with others.
Details
- Salary: £35,000
- Hours of Work: 9am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday
- Location: based in Stirlingshire, relocating to Central Belt location later this year.
