• Microbiology experience including environmental monitoring, Bioburden, pH
• Cleanroom monitoring
• Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
• Experience working in GMP laboratory environments
• Ideally knowledge of QMS, including handling non-conformances, OOS, and change controls
• Understanding of GMP & GDP, with good IT skills (LIMS, Excel)

This is a hands-on maintenance position covering a mix of electrical and mechanical engineering, with responsibility for keeping production equipment running reliably and responding to faults when they arise.

The Role

You’ll be involved in:

• Planned and reactive maintenance across production machinery.
• Electrical and mechanical fault finding and repairs.
• Working with PLCs, VFDs, motors, hydraulics and pneumatics and more.
• Supporting equipment installation and engineering improvement projects.
• Working closely with production to coordinate maintenance and reduce downtime.
• Managing and working alongside external contractors where required.
• Keeping maintenance and breakdown records up to date.
• Supporting site health, safety and food safety standards.
• Providing on-call engineering support when required.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in a multi-skilled engineering role.
• Previous experience in a production / manufacturing environment - food manufacturing or packaging preferred
• Experience with planned preventative and breakdown maintenance.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, motors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Key Responsibilities

PA & Business Support

• Provide proactive and confidential PA support to the Managing Director.

• Manage diaries, meetings, appointments and calls.

• Organise domestic and international travel arrangements.

• Prepare and proofread correspondence, reports, presentations and meeting documents.

• Support business projects, events and management initiatives.

• Carry out research and gather information to support decision-making.

• Monitor key deadlines, contracts, renewals and business commitments.

• Anticipate requirements and resolve day-to-day issues using initiative.

Accounts Support
Working alongside the Financial Controller, responsibilities will include:

• Sales and purchase ledger administration.

• Preparing and processing customer and supplier invoices.

• Matching purchase orders, delivery notes and invoices.

• Coding invoices to the correct nominal accounts and cost centres.

• Assisting with credit control and monitoring outstanding invoices.

• Processing supplier payments.

• Supporting VAT preparation and general finance administration.

Payroll

• Process monthly payroll accurately and within agreed deadlines.

• Process employee starters and leavers.

• Check timesheets and payroll information.

• Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience in a PA, Executive Assistant, senior administration or similar role.

• Experience managing diaries, meetings and travel arrangements.

• Excellent organisational and communication skills.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• A high level of discretion and confidentiality.

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.

• Previous experience in accounts administration, bookkeeping or purchase/sales ledger.

• Experience with payroll processing or payroll administration.

• Experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero or QuickBooks.

• Strong numerical skills and a high level of accuracy.

• Relevant PhD or postgraduate experience demonstrating deep scientific expertise, plus a background in CRO, biotech, or pharma settings.
• Experience as Project Manager, Study Director, or Principal Investigator in regulated studies, including practical understanding of GxP standards and regulatory requirements.
• Proven leadership skills, including line management, decision-making, mentoring, and project delivery.
• Expertise in at least one of the following areas: biochemical, biophysical, or cell-based assay development; protein expression, target validation; screening cascade design.
• Strong understanding of the drug discovery process.

Skills and Experience:

• PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline, with experience in regulated (GMP) environments.
• Broad technical knowledge of analytical techniques (e.g., UPLC-MS, SFC, NMR, GC-MS - experience with all techniques is not required).
• Proven expertise in method development, validation, troubleshooting, and advanced characterisation.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a track record of promoting scientific culture. 
• Excellent collaborative and communication skills to work across disciplines and with clients. This includes leading client account, project management, reporting and presenting to clients, influencing clients and risk mitigation.

As a Principal Scientist, you will shape and lead analytical strategy across a diverse portfolio of client projects in a GMP environment, combining hands‑on laboratory work with senior scientific leadership. You will design, execute, and interpret complex analytical studies, delivering high‑quality, compliant data that supports process development, technical investigations, and informed decision‑making.

Working closely with process chemists, project teams, quality colleagues, and clients, you will act as a trusted scientific partner, collaborating across disciplines to solve challenging technical problems and ensure analytical approaches are robust, fit for purpose, and aligned with regulatory expectations. You will play a key role in delivering Biophysics and Protein Science projects, working both independently and collaboratively to generate high‑quality data and insights, supporting project goals and contributing to scientific decision-making.  You will lead small-to-medium client projects, ensuring delivery to quality, time, and budget whilst working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external clients.

Skills and experience:

• Strong hands-on experience across Protein expression, protein purification and protein production, as well as some protein characterisation and  Biophysical techniques (e.g. SPR, GCI, ITC, DLS, DSF, SEC-MALS) across a breadth of targets in Drug Discovery.
• Experience leading scientific projects demonstrating good scientific judgement and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present data and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders (ie. clients).
• Experience mentoring, training, or supporting junior scientists is desirable
• Relevant degree (PhD preferred or equivalent experience).
